Reduce your consumption of these foods

Heartburn can be caused by foods such as sweets, baked goods, some types of black bread, fatty and spicy foods, highly concentrated broths, tomatoes and sour fruits, chocolate and ice cream. You will also have to give up a number of drinks: these include strong tea, coffee and alcohol.

Quit smoking

Don't wear tight clothes

Avoid tightening your belt or waistband too tightly, as this will cause hydrochloric acid to be released into the esophagus.

Avoid sports after meals

Some exercises put a lot of pressure on your abdominal cavity. Heartburn can also be triggered by intense leg lifts from a supine position. So, wait at least 3 hours after eating before heading to the gym.
