Toxicologist warns why you shouldn't eat sprouted potatoes

At the end of winter, you can see sprouted potatoes among the supplies at home.

At first glance, it may seem that it is enough to simply clean it and cook it in the usual way, and there can be no danger from such a product.

This is a big mistake.

You can't eat potatoes like this.

Specialist Mikhail Kutyshov spoke in more detail about the harm of sprouted potatoes, reports Doctor Peter .

As the doctor explained, the problem is in the toxic substance contained in such root vegetables - solanine.

Regular fruits contain a minimal amount of this element, but during germination the dose increases, especially in sprouts, green areas, and also under the skin.

Heat treatment will not save the situation.

If you eat this vegetable, you may experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, chills and headaches.

The doctor emphasized that children are more sensitive to such poisoning.

Kutushov also said that if such a vegetable has been eaten, activated carbon should be taken. If symptoms of poisoning appear, it is necessary to immediately contact a doctor.
