Neurorehabilitation specialist Alisa Korotina dispelled popular myths about aging during a conversation with representatives of the publication “ Lenta.ru ”.

She stressed that life expectancy can indeed be inherited. For example, if someone's parents lived to be over 80 years old, then there is a greater chance of a long life.

But at the same time, the quality of life must also be appropriate. For example, a healthy lifestyle and a stable emotional background are necessary.

But extra pounds and bad habits only accelerate aging.

The doctor recalled the myth that a person begins to age after 35. Korotina noted that the process begins at 50, but depends on the general condition of the person.

You can live longer and maintain physical and mental health if you also spend a lot of time walking in the fresh air, doing exercises every morning. But it is also important to train your mind: read books and newspapers, search for information, learn poetry, communicate with friends and relatives.

Korotina noted that food cannot slow down the aging process, but added that the environment is important.

In this case, she recommended paying attention to long-livers from southern countries, who not only adhere to the Mediterranean diet, but also live in places where the mountain air is enriched with oxygen.

As the doctor said, it is important to maintain water balance.

If a person drinks little water, then all metabolic processes in the body are worse, which means that the body ages faster.
