The chief narcologist of the Moscow region, Vitaly Kholdin, in a conversation with NEWS.ru dispelled three main myths about quitting smoking.

First of all, he noted that it is impossible to get rid of addiction in an instant. On average, a person makes about five attempts.

Another misconception is that you can’t quit smoking abruptly.

Still, as the doctor noted, it is better to give up tobacco immediately and forever. It will only bring benefits. In just a few hours the condition will improve.

Holdin also recalled that many people believe that e-cigarettes are less harmful. This is also not true.

He emphasized that in the relatively short time that electronic cigarettes have existed, medicine simply has not had time to accumulate the necessary amount of research.
