An expert spoke about the benefits of laughter for people who suffer from arthritis.

Psychiatrist Georgy Kostyuk emphasized that positive emotions lower blood sugar levels and dull pain.

The doctor referred to studies that showed that laughter alleviates the symptoms of arthritis, RIA Novosti reports.

The doctor noted that this occurs due to a certain set of hormones that are produced at the moment when a person experiences positive emotions.

The doctor pointed out that a cheerful mood helps to get rid of emotional and muscular tension, and removes moral and physical fatigue.

In addition, the psychiatrist noted that due to the production of hormones, the functioning of other systems is normalized.

According to the expert, up to 80 muscles are involved during laughter. Thus, up to 350 kilocalories are burned in an hour of laughter. Therefore, a cheerful mood not only dulls the symptoms of arthritis, but also helps to lose weight, the doctor concluded.
