When choosing house slippers, we most often pay attention to the color, then evaluate the model, sometimes look at the material from which the shoes are made.
These criteria have nothing to do with those that you should rely on if you do not want to cause serious harm to your health.
Due to daily use, such a small thing as slippers has a strong impact on the musculoskeletal system - if you choose shoes with the wrong sole, you can easily get flat feet, problems with the spine and even headaches.
If the slippers are too warm, they can become a cozy “home” for a fungal infection.
So what points should be taken into account when choosing slippers? First of all, make sure that the upper part of the shoe, the so-called vamp, covers at least 60% of the foot. The edging is also important. If the seam is directed inward rather than outward, you risk rubbing your feet.
Now – about the material. Slippers for everyday wear should be made of natural fabrics and preferably with an open toe.
As for the most important thing – the sole – it should be no thinner than three millimeters, otherwise – hello, heel spurs.
But a thick, absolutely flat sole, like slippers made of artificial felt, is also not an option, because wearing such shoes leads to flat feet and calluses. Instead, opt for a sole made of durable thermoplastic elastomer, which does not deform when walking. At the same time, it is worth making sure that the sole is slightly thicker in the heel area. It is also allowed to buy slippers with a cork sole - they are just as durable and also do not absorb moisture, which means that there will be no problems with washing the shoes.
