How physical activity improves concentration at work: psychologists answer

Canadian scientists have stated that physical activity before or during the working day helps to better concentrate on tasks.

The activity can be any. Even a simple walk in the fresh air gives a positive effect.

At the same time, much depends on the employee’s motivation to exercise and the intensity of the training.

An experiment was conducted in which 74 people took part. All of them worked at four different enterprises.

It was found that these people worked more than 32 hours a week. They spent about 20 hours communicating with colleagues and had two or three training sessions a week. They devoted half an hour to the last session.

All participants also completed a survey and answered questions about their motivation to exercise, and also talked about self-efficacy and burnout (decreased self-discipline).

But that's not all. All volunteers' coworkers also rated their focus on completing work tasks.

Men and women with greater intrinsic motivation require more challenging training to perform better.

The corresponding findings were published in The Journal of Applied Psychology.
