Have you ever noticed that the simplest things are often the most useful?

There is probably an item in your home that has been gathering dust on a shelf for years, but can replace dozens of store-bought products.

We are not talking about a magic pill or a high-tech gadget, but about the most ordinary lemon. Yes, this sour fruit can become your main assistant in the fight against household problems, and here's how.

Let's start with the kitchen. If your microwave is covered in a layer of dried splashes, don't waste time scrubbing it off.

Pour water into a cup, add lemon slices and set it for 5 minutes at maximum power. The steam will soften the dirt, and the lemon juice will dissolve the grease.

After that, wipe the walls with a damp cloth - the result will surprise you. The same thing works with the oven: put a container with water and lemon in it, turn on the heating, and after 20 minutes remove the carbon deposits without any effort.

Citric acid is a great natural disinfectant. Wipe cutting boards with half a fruit to get rid of the smell of fish or onions.

And if you mix lemon juice with soda, you will get a paste for cleaning the sink or bathtub: apply it to the surface, leave for 10 minutes, then rinse.

Limescale and rust will disappear and your plumbing will sparkle.

Don't forget about washing. Adding half a cup of lemon juice to the fabric softener compartment will soften the laundry and remove the gray tint from whites.

It will also save things from sweat smell - especially relevant for sportswear. The main thing is not to use lemon together with bleach: the reaction can ruin the fabric.

And finally, a life hack for gardeners. If ants have appeared in your dacha, place lemon peels near their paths.

The pungent smell will repel insects, and you won't have to poison the area with chemicals. As you can see, lemon is not just for tea!
