Many Germans are characterized by pedantry and a desire for order.
This is noticeable in the home environment.
The apartment of an average German family is quite clean and tidy: there is no dirt, no sense of disorder. Everything seems to sparkle.
At first, you might think that such a result is achieved by very frequent, thorough cleaning of the apartment.
In fact, German housewives don’t spend that much time on tidying up their homes.
They just follow one simple rule and demand the same from their family members.
The Main German Rule of Cleaning
It sounds like this: "Clean up right away."
If any dirty surface appears in the house, it is immediately wiped down.
If something becomes dirty, it immediately becomes clean again.
A simple example: a German housewife will not leave dirty dishes in the sink. She will start washing the dishes immediately after finishing breakfast, lunch or dinner.
If something dirty falls on the floor, the German woman will immediately start mini-cleaning.
Cleaning the bathroom is never put off until later.
By following this rule, an interesting effect occurs: dirty things do not accumulate in the house, and the rooms simply do not have time to become disordered.
