New Year is just around the corner. People are filling up stores en masse – stocking up.
Among food products, special attention is paid to vegetables and, in particular, cucumbers.
Well, how can we go on holiday without them? How can we stay without salads? Well, even cucumbers on the table are also necessary.
Unfortunately, it is not uncommon to buy a product in stores that is not only of poor quality, but also dangerous to your health.
A retail outlet interested in sales and profits will not tell you which cucumbers you shouldn't buy. Rather, they will advise you to buy a variety and a lot of them.
But you can figure it out yourself and not buy a bad vegetable. The main thing is to carefully examine the produce.
You should not buy cucumbers on which you notice dark or light spots - this may indicate the process of rotting.
Avoid buying if the vegetable has cracks. Harmful bacteria may accumulate in this area.
The same recommendation if you notice a shine on the cucumber. This may be a sign of waxing.
Why do they do this? To hide defects. Or it is a consequence of careless transportation of the product.
Do not take cucumbers if you smell rot, bitterness or other unpleasant “aromas”.
In this case, there is a possibility that the fruits are spoiled or contain a large amount of substances remaining after poor-quality fertilization.
Also, you shouldn’t buy soft cucumbers – this may be a sign that they have already started to spoil.
