Most prepared meals cannot be stored for long even in the refrigerator.
This was warned by Andrey Dorokhov, associate professor of the A.N. Reformatsky Department of Inorganic Chemistry at the Russian Technical University MIREA.
The scientist’s statement is quoted by the publication “Lenta.ru” .
How to Properly Store Prepared Meals
As Dorokhov explained, most prepared meals, even in the refrigerator, are stored for no more than two days.
And it is generally advisable to consume salads with mayonnaise within 24 hours of preparation.
However, there are also long-lived products. For example, sliced sausages and cheeses can be stored in the refrigerator for a long time if they are placed in an airtight container or wrapped in cling film.
The shelf life is about 5-7 days, the scientist specified.
He noted that meat and fish dishes should be stored separately from other foods.
It is also necessary to avoid contact of these dishes with aluminum or plastic, they affect the taste of the food.
Olives, black olives and pickled mushrooms should be returned to the original jar.
Cakes and pastries with cream should be stored in the refrigerator, pastry products without cream – at room temperature, covered with foil or a towel.
