American scientists have come to this disappointing conclusion.
The results of their study were published in the American Journal of Infection Control, reports the Zen channel AM.PM.
What scientists have discovered
In a study, Arizona scientists compared an office toilet with a home toilet for bacteria levels.
The result was predictable. The office toilet turned out to be dirtier than the home one.
Scientists have also found that a closed toilet lid does not really prevent the spread of bacteria when flushing: bacteria are freely moved around the room by the air flow.
There is good news, too. Regularly cleaning the toilet with disinfectant significantly reduces the level of bacterial contamination.
