To cut mushrooms or to twist them? Mushroom pickers have been arguing about this for decades.
Russian scientists conducted an experiment to answer this question once and for all.
The conclusions the researchers came to may surprise you.
What is the right way: cut mushrooms or twist them
Biologists Tatyana Yushkevich and Alexander Razin took on the task of checking how cutting and twisting affects the mycelium.
The experiment was conducted on the territory of the Pushkinogorsk mushroom reserve.
It was found that gentle twisting does not have a negative effect on the mycelium.
Moreover, it turned out that twisting is useful – it stimulates active growth of mycelium.
