As the nutritionist explained, you can tell a normal melon from one stuffed with nitrates by its pulp.
If the melon contains nitrates, the pulp will have hard veins. Such a melon should never be eaten, the specialist warned.
According to her, nitrates are especially harmful to pregnant women, the elderly and people with chronic diseases.
As Solomatina explained, nitrates turn into nitrites, and they block hemoglobin.
The tissues stop breathing and the metabolism is disrupted, the expert said.
