Is your Easter table bursting with food? There's nothing wrong with that!
On the contrary, this approach is welcomed: the more delicious dishes on the table on this day, the better.
But this does not mean that you can cook and eat anything on this bright holiday.
It is clear that it is impossible to imagine Easter without Easter cakes and painted eggs.
But you shouldn’t prepare shashlik on this day.
Let's figure out which products and dishes can be "Easter" and which cannot.
What should be on the table for Easter
As mentioned above, on this holiday the table should include Easter cakes (with a sweet and tasty "top"), as well as boiled eggs.
It is also advisable to make a cottage cheese paskha. This way you will be able to observe another important Easter tradition.
In addition, you should put a plate with sliced sausage or ham and a dish with boiled pork on the table.
As for spices and seasonings, salt and horseradish are desirable.
Soups and salads are not traditional Easter dishes. They are not suitable for blessing. But for consumption - quite.
On Easter you can eat cucumbers, tomatoes, oranges, tangerines, bananas and other vegetables/fruits. It is just not advisable to bless them.
What should not be served on the Easter table
It would be a violation of tradition to eat shashlik on Easter. And even more so, this dish should not be blessed.
The same goes for blood sausage.
It is not advisable to eat excessively fatty foods on the bright holiday of Easter.
Earlier we told you whether it is possible to go to the cemetery on Orthodox Easter.
