To create a water-repellent layer on the surface of shoes, you can use not only store-bought compounds, but also folk remedies.
Paraffin or wax
If you rub the top of your boots with paraffin or wax, not a single drop of water will get inside the shoes. The main thing is to remember to dry the pair with a hairdryer afterwards.
A mixture of paraffin, linseed and castor oil
In addition to pure paraffin, you can use a mixture prepared on its basis with the addition of linseed and castor oils, which are sold in pharmacies.
First, grate the paraffin on a fine grater - you need 1 teaspoon of shavings, then melt it in a water bath, adding 2 teaspoons of each oil.
The resulting mixture should be applied to the upper part of the boots. This should be done at least 6-8 hours before leaving the house.
Petrolatum
The treatment can also be carried out using heated Vaseline, or if you don’t have it, pork or goose fat.
