The most enjoyable trip can be ruined by the hassle of carrying luggage. Sometimes you only take everything you need on a trip, but end up with more suitcases than you can carry.
Most likely, the problem is not the amount of things, but that they are packed incorrectly. Here are some tips for those who are going on vacation.
So, to have fewer suitcases and more things in them, you need to learn how to pack for the trip.
1. Dimensions
Size matters, but the dimensions of the suitcase should be taken into account when choosing a means of transport. The luggage should fit into the luggage compartment of a car or a train compartment. Air carriers are the most zealous about dimensions; they have their own requirements for everything. Trains have their own rules, but they are more democratic.
2. What to take on a trip
It is better to first make a list on paper. Then weigh everything carefully and start packing. In this case, experienced travelers follow the rule: 5-4-3-2-1.
5 is the number of pairs of socks and underwear;
4 – these are sweatshirts and T-shirts;
3 - these are jeans or trousers;
2 - these are shoes;
1 – headdress.
3. How to pack things in a suitcase
This is where the fun begins. The bulkiest items are packed first. They need to be placed on the half of the suitcase that is closer to the ground when the luggage is in an upright position. This will make it easier to open the lid, the rest of the items will not get wrinkled, and the other contents will move around the suitcase less during transportation.
4. Tetris
Those born in the 80s and 90s of the last century will find it easier to pack a suitcase, because of all the electronic games they had to play Tetris more often. Some tricks will still be useful for these people.
Bulky items should be pulled together with an elastic band, and such “twists” should be laid vertically.
Small items like socks or perfume can be placed in shoes and other spaces that remain between things.
But small items, toiletries and documents that you might need along the way are best kept in a separate bag.
