You can cope with them. Here are some cheap methods that summer residents and gardeners use to combat gastropod pests. You can count on a long-lasting effect.

After prolonged rains, these parasites appear everywhere and can harm both green spaces and ripening fruits.

In addition to spoiling the future harvest, slugs are carriers of various diseases that are dangerous for fruit and vegetable crops. Therefore, the fight against them must be the most merciless.

How to fight

1. Summer residents are offered a method of treating plants with chemicals.

But most prefer to hand-pick slugs. The best time to hunt them is early in the morning in shaded areas.

They can hide on leaves, wooden and other structures, hoses and watering taps, as well as metal buckets and watering cans.

2. But this option is good for one or two times. Soon you will get tired of collecting parasites manually, so it is worth installing a couple of traps.

Beer or kvass is used as bait, which is poured into suitable containers and buried at the same level as the ground.
Cornmeal bait is also used.

3. In beds where berries or cabbage grow, it would be better to install a protective barrier.

The perimeter of the bed is sprinkled with sharp materials - crushed egg or nut shells.

Also used are slaked lime, wood ash, coffee grounds, mustard and pepper, potassium salt or superphosphate.

They also say that slugs, like many pests, do not like the smell of birch tar. You can soak rags in it and spread them on the beds. It will not harm the vegetables.
