Sandpaper for removing plaque from bathtub: a barbaric method or a working method?

There are many folk remedies that successfully deal with limescale deposits that have formed on the surface of the bathtub.

You have probably come across recommendations that suggest using vinegar, a combination of baking soda and dishwashing liquid, or a combination of baking soda and citric acid to solve this problem.

However, there is another, albeit less common, tip, which is to use sandpaper for this purpose.

According to housewives who have tried this method of removing scale, it is suitable for old enamel bathtubs in which a very hard and thick layer of deposits has formed, which is also called water scale.

In this case, it makes sense to stock up on sandpaper with a grain size of 100-120.

The plaque should be cleaned under a stream of water from the shower, running under low pressure. You won’t have to scrub for long – the cleaned area will become snow-white in just a couple of minutes.

If the bathtub is of good quality, you don’t have to worry that the sandpaper will wear away the enamel down to the cast iron.

Please note: To achieve a smoother finish, follow up with fine grit sandpaper (eg 400) after using coarse grit sandpaper.
