Some of the beliefs concern tidying up the home. Two or three centuries ago they were taken quite seriously.
Cleaning and a long journey
The sign says that you can't wash the floors, vacuum, dust or throw out trash in the house if a person is on the way. It is believed that these actions can "spoil" the road for loved ones.
Sign about a broom
Since ancient times, people have associated a broom with well-being. That is why in the past this inventory was always placed with the handle down. People believed that this way they attract happiness, money and luck into the house. In addition, you cannot sweep garbage over the threshold. The sign says that in this way a person “sweeps” wealth out of the home.
Days of the week
Cleaning was not done on Monday, Friday and Sunday. It was believed that on these days a person "sweeps out" well-being and receives problems in return. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are good days for cleaning, but Saturday is ideal.
Dust
Since ancient times, there has been a belief that money can be attracted to the house if you wipe dust with a red rag. Rags from old things (towels, T-shirts) have the opposite effect.
After sunset
The belief is that one should not clean or take out the trash in the evening. It was believed that in this way a person rids the house of material well-being and dooms himself to poverty.
Washing
Ancestors believed that the best day of the week for washing was Wednesday. But it could not be done after sunset. Another sign says that blankets should not be washed in May. It was explained by the fact that this was a sure way to "wash out" a family member from the house.
