The doctor named areas in the kitchen that require special attention during cleaning.
Therapist and candidate of medical sciences Andrey Kondrakhin listed the dirtiest places in the kitchen.
The doctor pointed out that knives can be real breeding grounds for bacteria and infections, Vechernyaya Moskva reports.
The doctor advised not to use the same knife when working with different products. For example, one knife should be used for meat and another for butter.
Kondrakhin added that pathogens accumulate on terry and waffle towels, so it is important to change them more often.
A wooden cutting board is another epicenter of bacteria. During the cutting process, the knife touches the surface, leaving a small cut into which microbes get. Bacteria live and multiply there. The cleaning agent does not get into the notch, so the board cannot be called sterile even after washing.
The baseboard between the countertop and the tiles also has its invisible "residents". The doctor noted that this space is rarely washed, so a large amount of dust, small debris and bacteria accumulates on it.
According to the doctor, these kitchen areas and items pose a risk of contamination with E. coli, salmonellosis, and clostridial infections.
