On the eve of the March 8 holiday, which has long been firmly associated with tulips, it would be a good idea to learn what to do with the flowers so that they stay fresh as long as possible.
The bouquet should be taken care of as soon as it is handed to you - take a sharp knife and make an even cut on each stem.
Important: the cut must be straight, not diagonal – this way the flowers will last the longest, assure wise housewives.
In addition, we must not lose sight of the fact that tulips are fans of the cold, which means that they will stand well and not open in cold water.
You will get water of the required temperature if you add a few ice cubes to the vase.
Overheating can be prevented by placing containers with flowers away from radiators and other heating elements. At night, flowers can be taken out onto the balcony - if the temperature here does not drop below +2 degrees.
Another additive for long-term standing of tulips is an aspirin tablet (per liter of water). The medicine can be replaced with a teaspoon of granulated sugar.
Don't forget to change the water in the vase daily, and make a new cut every 1-2 days. You don't need to cut much - a couple of millimeters is enough.
