All household appliances that heat water must be periodically descaled.

Basically, limescale is combated with improvised means. Vinegar, citric or ascorbic acid, as well as industrial products like "Antinakipin" are used.

We'll tell you how to clean an iron using improvised means.

Cleaning with vinegar

Acid copes well with limescale, and the most accessible ingredient in this case is vinegar. It is not used in its pure form, but a solution is prepared (50 ml of table vinegar per 150 ml of water). The components are mixed, poured into the iron tank and the heating is turned on, and then cleaning is carried out over a rag or basin. The steam button or self-cleaning function is turned on.

You can also use ascorbic acid

To prepare the working solution, you will need 100 mg of ascorbic acid per glass of water. The main thing is to use tablets without adding glucose. Otherwise, the process is the same as with vinegar.

Citric acid

The solution is prepared from 50 grams of powder per 0.5 liters of water. This volume is enough to carry out the procedure twice, which is important in advanced cases. The process of cleaning with citric acid is the same as in the first two cases. The result is no worse than after vinegar, but there is no such disgusting smell.
