Over time, heating radiators begin to accumulate a large amount of dust on their surface.
And when heating occurs, an unpleasant smell appears and dangerous particles get into the air. Therefore, it is worth figuring out how to properly clean heating radiators from dust.
Vacuum cleaner
Cleaning should always begin with a regular vacuum cleaner. For cleaning, use a flat crevice nozzle.
It is necessary to vacuum all areas of the battery, paying special attention to the sections.
Wet cleaning
Wet cleaning is performed depending on the type of radiators installed in the house. We can recall several varieties and recommendations for cleaning.
Cast iron
For cast iron, use a long brush and warm soapy water. The cleaning process is not fast, but it is not difficult either. All spaces between sections should be washed well, paying attention to the back side.
It is not recommended to use a solution that is too soapy, as this may leave unpleasant marks on the radiators.
Aluminum
With aluminum heating radiators it is a little more complicated. Using a brush will not work, as blockages are minimal. There are three options.
- Steam generator. This method can be called one of the best. However, it is important to use a high-power steam generator.
- Hair dryer. You can use it to blow out some of the dust. You should put damp rags under the radiators so that the dust settles on them and does not fly around the room.
- Fabric gloves. The gist: gloves are put on the hands, moistened with water and all surfaces are wiped.
Cleaning aluminum radiators is always more difficult, and most of the dust accumulates in the joints.
Inspection of radiators
Over time, rust and various mechanical damage may appear on the batteries. After cleaning, it is necessary to carefully inspect all radiators and take measures if the situation requires it.
Special compositions
There are compounds that help get rid of dust. When using them, it is worth remembering about toxicity. Special products cope well with dust on metal surfaces, but when using them, rubber gloves and a respirator are required.
