If you use a wooden stand to store the knives in your kitchen “arsenal”, you should not think that such an “accessory” is protected from dirt.
Moreover, a huge number of microbes accumulate in narrow openings.
If you place wet knives in the holder after washing, mold has probably also started growing there.
The above facts are probably enough to understand the need for thorough washing and cleaning of a wooden stand.
First, you should remove sharp utensils from the stand and turn it over to get rid of small debris.
After this, go over the cells with a miniature brush to clean them completely.
Use a soapy solution to clean the outer edges of the stand, but be careful not to let water get directly into the holes.
Now it remains to wipe the device first with a damp cloth, then with a dry cloth, and you can move on to the cells. To clean them, it is worth preparing a disinfectant solution consisting of equal parts of 9% vinegar and hydrogen peroxide.
Dip the brush into the resulting mixture and use it to clean the holes.
Now you should wipe the stand with a dry cloth and leave it for 12 hours to dry. This procedure should be done once every couple of weeks.
