Oil paintings are distinguished by their sophistication and appearance. However, the placement of such paintings should always be approached responsibly.
Experts have named 5 places where paintings should not be hung.
Near air conditioners and above heating devices
In a museum, they always try to create ideal conditions for storing paintings. If the temperature changes gradually or the paint is exposed to dry air, it may simply crack. Therefore, it is unacceptable to place oil paintings above heating devices or air conditioners.
Places with high humidity
This may include:
- Bathroom.
- Above the pool.
- Bathhouse.
The most interesting thing is that even in the kitchen it is strongly not recommended to place oil paintings. During cooking, an increased amount of steam may be released, due to which the painting will lose its basic properties. Also, cooking leads to a change in temperature.
In direct sunlight
If the painting is exposed to sunlight, it will gradually begin to fade and the paint will crack.
Outdoors
Some people find old oil paintings and start placing them on an open balcony or other similar places. Why abuse art? Open space is the worst place to store paintings, as they will be exposed to high humidity, sunlight and dry air.
Premises without heating
If the room temperature can drop below 0 in winter, the painting will quickly lose its appearance. It is always worth approaching the storage of oil paintings responsibly, then there should be no special problems.
And if the painting does not have a specific value, it is better to put it up for sale for a symbolic price. Oil paintings should not deteriorate just because no one takes proper care of them.
