When the screw cap on a jar of your favorite preserve stubbornly refuses to budge, the first thing that comes to mind is to pry it off with a knife. But this can bend the cap and all you can do is throw it away.
Here's how to solve this problem without much effort or damage to property.
1. Roll it on the table
An option suitable for half-liter jars with rolls and smaller. You need to lay a towel or other material on the edge of the table, put the jar on its side and, pressing the jar with one hand and the edge of the lid with the other, roll the roll back and forth.
2. Vegetable oil
You can't open jars with a capacity of 1 liter or more this way, so you need to turn the preparation over, add a little vegetable oil under the edge of the lid in several places and leave for 15-20 minutes, after which the lid unscrews instantly.
3. Hot water
An option when there is no time. The jar is simply placed under the tap, hot water is turned on, and left for 2-3 minutes while doing other things. If there is no water, you can heat the lid with a lighter, hair dryer, etc.
4. Physical impact
You can hit the bottom of the jar hard. You need to hold the canning jar firmly, with dry hands and at an angle of about 45 degrees. This should be a strong blow, after which you can hear a click - this means that the lid can be opened.
