Modern manufacturers offer housewives a variety of carpet cleaning products to choose from. All of them have a liquid composition and involve the application of active foam.
These products remove dirt without difficulty, but then a new problem arises – how to dry the carpet, especially in autumn or winter?
This problem did not exist for Soviet housewives, who practiced dry cleaning of carpets right at home.
How to proceed
Take equal amounts of baking soda and salt, enough so that the finished mixture is enough to clean the carpet.
Mix the ingredients together and then spread the mixture evenly over the carpet.
Now arm yourself with a dry brush with elastic, but not hard bristles and rub the salt and soda into the carpet.
It is best to do this at night, as the product needs to be left for 6-8 hours. Then all that remains is to thoroughly vacuum the carpet.
The trick is that baking soda will help remove dirt and stains, and at the same time eliminate unpleasant odors.
Salt absorbs excess moisture, for example, when the air humidity in the apartment is high, and at the same time acts against dust mites, mold and other insects and bacteria.
By the way, if you make flavored salt, for example, by soaking it in essential oil beforehand, you can give your carpet a subtle and favorite aroma.
