Convenient, but dangerous: why overnight charging is stressful for a smartphone

Many users have long since developed the habit of charging their smartphone before going to bed.

It turns out to be very convenient: the mobile phone charges while the person is sleeping and does not need the device.

In the morning, the battery charge level is 100 percent: you can safely go to work or go on a trip without worrying that the battery is about to run out.

It would seem that this approach is ideal… Why not continue to act exactly this way?

Unfortunately, there is bad news for users: overnight charging poses a huge danger to the smartphone.

Why Night Charging Is Dangerous for Your Mobile Phone

The habit of charging a gadget at night is dangerous not so much for the phone itself as for its battery.

The thing is that there is a risk of overheating.

For what reason? It's very simple: at night, a sleeping person is unable to monitor the battery charge level.

And there is no way to disconnect the charger from the smartphone in time.

Yes, the battery charging process automatically stops once the level reaches 100 percent.

But users forget about the following point: as soon as the indicator drops by a couple of percent, the process will resume. And during the night this will happen several times.

Such “jumps” are a huge “stress” for the battery: the device overheats, the capacity drops, and there is a risk of breakdown.

To avoid problems, try to charge your smartphone at other times of the day, not at night.
