The International Water Sports Federation (World Aquatics) has lifted the ban on the participation of Belarusian and Russian swimmers in certain disciplines.
But there are conditions. Athletes from the named countries will be allowed to compete only in neutral status and if they meet certain criteria.
The Belta agency reported this with reference to the federation’s press service.
If the above conditions are met, Belarusians and Russians will be able to participate in international competitions in:
- swimming;
– open water swimming;
- synchronized swimming;
- diving.
Please note: we are talking about admission to the named water sports in all disciplines.
Accordingly, Belarusian and Russian swimmers have the opportunity to compete in relay races.
However, their participation in water polo competitions is still prohibited.
Since last September, athletes have only been allowed to participate in individual events.
