According to available information, the famous athlete was sent there after she suffered a stroke.

In particular, the head of the Ski Racing Federation of the Komi Republic, Konstantin Sobyanin, told MIA Rossiya Segodnya about this.

She had a stroke, and now she is in the hospital in Syktyvkar, in intensive care, said the sports official.

According to him, doctors have stabilized the famous skier's condition, but are not yet giving a prognosis.

Raisa Smetanina is 72 years old and is an Olympic champion (she won four times).
