The last Grand Slam tennis tournament of the year, the US Open, has ended.
The day before, Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka won the women's final, and last night (Minsk time) the men competed in the final.
The US Open was won by the world ranking leader, Italian Jannik Sinner.
In the decisive match, he beat the world's 12th-ranked American, Taylor Fritz.
In the first set, the European won with a score of 6:3, the second he took with a score of 6:4, and the third was the most difficult – 7:5.
Thus, Sinner is the US Open champion. Earlier, in 2024, like Aryna Sabalenka, he won the Australian Open.
It should be noted that on the way to victory in New York, the Italian left behind such tennis players as Daniil Medvedev (Russia, 5th place in the ranking), Tommy Paul (USA, 5), and others.
Interestingly, Jannik Sinner had never reached the final of the US Open before, while Taylor Fritz had only reached the quarterfinals in all such tournaments.
