In Belarus, the sale of the popular Russian toothpaste from the brand “Uncle Vanya” has been banned.

The product is produced by the canning plant "Akhtuba" from the Volgograd region.

The press service of the State Standard reported this, naming the reason why the paste is now on the country’s “black list”.

The fact is that the test showed the presence of an unacceptable food additive in the specified product, which the manufacturer did not declare.

We are talking about a preservative called sulfur dioxide, the department explained.

And they added: during the inspection it was also discovered that the mass fraction of soluble dry substances in the paste was 24%, while the minimum level is 25 percent.

The State Standard notes that the plant intentionally gave the product the appearance and some properties of tomato paste, but “it cannot be identified as the tomato paste it is being passed off as.”

Due to the identified violations, this tomato paste has been banned from being imported and sold in Belarus since December 3 of this year.

For reference
