Over 400 cases of counterfeiting have been identified in Belarus over the first 11 months of this year.
The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported this on Telegram.
What to do if you find counterfeit banknotes
As reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, law enforcement officers regularly carry out measures to combat counterfeiting.
From January to November of this year, 406 cases of counterfeiting were identified.
The vast majority of counterfeits detected are foreign currency.
Namely, dollars, euros, Russian rubles and British pounds.
Counterfeit banknotes come mainly from abroad. The largest number of them came from Russia, Poland and Turkey.
One of the ways to obtain counterfeit banknotes is through illegal currency transactions (23 cases this year).
There are also increasingly more cases of citizens being sold souvenir banknotes reproducing Belarusian rubles.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs calls on citizens to be vigilant, to exchange currency in specialized institutions, not to buy it from individuals, and not to participate in dubious transactions.
If you find counterfeit banknotes, you must report them to the police by calling 102.
The production, storage for the purpose of sale and sale of counterfeit money entails criminal liability, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reminded.
