A new anti-record for trucks was recorded at the Lithuanian checkpoint “Medininkai” (on the Belarusian side – “Kamenny Log”).
Over the past 24 hours, only 11 trucks out of a possible 500 were processed there, which is two percent of the norm.
The press service of the State Border Committee of Belarus reported on the event on its official Telegram channel.
Overall, the queue of heavy-duty vehicles at the republic’s borders with EU countries has grown by 645 units since Friday.
As of ten o'clock in the morning on December 9, 3,240 trucks had accumulated in queues in front of all checkpoints in neighboring European countries, the State Border Guard Service notes.
Despite the increase in the number of trucks, European control services continue to ignore the rules for passing vehicles, the report says.
Medininkai and its anti-record have already been mentioned. The situation is slightly better at another Lithuanian checkpoint, Šalčininkai (Beņakoni).
There, according to information from the Border Committee, 11% of trucks were allowed into Lithuanian territory in one day.
The queue at the Polish checkpoint “Kukuryki” (“Kozlovichi”) increased by 1,420 trucks over the weekend.
According to the Belarusian department, 59% of cars were registered there in one day.
Over 530 trucks are awaiting entry into Latvia. At the Paternieki (Grigorovshchina) checkpoint, only 29% of the vehicles were cleared in 24 hours.
As for passenger cars, it is reported that by 10 a.m. on December 9, a queue was recorded only in front of the Polish checkpoint “Terespol” (“Brest”).
