On November 19, the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched a strike on the Bryansk region, firing six ATACMS missiles. On November 21, the enemy used Storm Shadow systems to strike the Kursk region.
This event was preceded by reports about the West giving permission to use its long-range weapons, as well as about changes in Russia's nuclear doctrine.
The Russian President made a statement the day before and spoke about what Russia’s response would be.
Putin's statement
The US and its NATO allies have previously stated that they are giving permission for the use of their long-range precision weapons systems on Russian territory. Experts are well aware, and the Russian side has repeatedly emphasized, that it is impossible to use such weapons without the direct participation of military specialists from countries that produce such weapons, the Izvestia newspaper quotes Putin's words from his address.
At the same time, the Russian leader emphasized that Russian air defense systems successfully repelled these attacks.
Vladimir Putin then noted that in connection with what happened, the Ukrainian conflict is acquiring a global scale, but this will not affect the course of the SVO, and all tasks will be completed.
Russia's response
In response to the Ukrainian Armed Forces' failure to use Western weapons to strike Russian regions, the new Oreshnik missile was tested in combat conditions.
The production of the new supersonic ballistic missile was carried out under conditions of strict secrecy.
Before the test, there was no information about it in the media.
The Russian President reported that during the testing of the Russian Armed Forces missile, the Ukrainian Yuzhmash plant was hit and called the launch successful.
We are conducting combat tests of the Oreshnik missile system in response to the aggressive actions of NATO countries against Russia, Vladimir Putin said.
It was also noted that the Russian Federation will make decisions on the further deployment of medium- and shorter-range missiles depending on the actions of the United States and “their satellites.”
