It recently became known that Belarus introduced licensing for the export of potatoes outside the country.
The innovation will be in effect for the next three months.
The corresponding decree was signed by the country's Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko.
This information was made public on the official Telegram channel of the Belarusian government.
The reason for introducing licensing is said to be the need to provide the domestic market with “agricultural products in full” during the off-season.
Please note: from now on, the export of potatoes (regardless of the country of origin) abroad is only possible with a one-time license.
The permits will be issued by the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade in agreement with the Ministry of Agriculture, regional executive committees and the capital's mayor's office.
And the decision to issue a license is made by authorized bodies.
In this matter, they take into account the ratio of free volumes of potatoes in the country and the level of the republic’s need for it at the time of the license approval.
