To date, 3,303 tons of sand and soil contaminated with fuel oil have been collected from the beaches of the Krasnodar region.

The press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry reported this on its official Telegram channel.

In the port of Anapa alone, 4 tons of oil-containing liquid were collected.

There, in the specified port, by this time, one hundred square meters of water area had been treated with sorbent, the department reports.

It is noted that approximately 6,000 rescuers and volunteers are working in the area of the ecological disaster.

More than 250 units of equipment are involved in the work being carried out, the ministry said.

Currently, the Ministry of Emergency Situations employees continue to survey the sea area.

Please note: specialists carry out continuous monitoring.

With the help of departmental aviation, it is possible to pinpoint the locations of oil product discharges into the sea, the report says.

On December 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin called the oil spill from tankers in the Black Sea a real environmental disaster.

According to him, law enforcement officers are assessing the actions of ship captains during the storm.

The investigation believes that they violated the rules because they did not take shelter in time.

Let us recall that on December 15, due to a powerful storm near the Kerch Strait, the tankers Volgoneft-212 and Volgoneft-239, which were transporting oil products, were wrecked.

As a result, there was a spill of oil products, which, according to the Krasnodar governor, were washed ashore for several tens of kilometers.
