How much sweets do Belarusians eat per year?

As Bliznyuk explained, Belarusians have a moderate sweet tooth, consuming less sweets on average than in Russia and Europe.

The volume of confectionery consumption per capita in our country is approximately 23 kilograms per year, in Europe – 32 kilograms, in Russia – 25 kilograms.

According to official statistics, of all confectionery products, Belarusians prefer flour products, eating five kilograms of cookies, two kilograms of cakes and pastries, one and a half kilograms of gingerbread and the same amount of waffles per year.

Belarusians eat three kilograms of chocolate and sweets per year, while residents of Switzerland, Belgium and Germany eat 10 kilograms, Russians eat 3.9 kilograms, and the Japanese eat only one kilogram.
