On December 20, the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade of Belarus and large retail chains signed an additional agreement on discounts on a number of goods for vulnerable categories of the population for the first quarter of next year.
This decision was made due to the expiration of the agreement, which was concluded in January 2022.
BELTA reports this.
What products have had their discounts extended?
A 10% discount is provided to large families, disabled people, pensioners and low-income groups.
It applies to bread, pasta, flour, pearl barley, oatmeal, pork, beef, chicken carcasses, eggs, cottage cheese, sour cream, kefir, milk, apples, vegetables and other products.
According to the head of MART, Aleksey Bogdanov, during the discount period, more than two million people received cards.
The amount of discount provided since the start of the campaign has approached 100 million rubles.
This action once again confirms that Belarus is a social state, the minister noted.
According to him, the agreement is extended quarterly because, under conditions of price regulation, it is necessary to carefully analyze the economic state of trade in order to avoid losses.
The head of the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade expressed gratitude to retail chains for their willingness to continue participating in the campaign.
He also noted that since the beginning of this year, retail turnover has increased by almost 12%.
According to Bogdanov, this positive dynamic allows trade to receive revenue that covers the costs of providing social discounts.
