In September of the outgoing year, three cases of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome were recorded in the Khoyniki district of the Gomel region of Belarus.
In connection with this circumstance, specialists from the Khoyniki District Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology contacted Belarusians.
On its page on the social network VKontakte, the department’s press service called on residents of the district to be extremely vigilant “regarding the routes of transmission of the infection.”
Epidemiologists strongly recommend avoiding contact with rodents and protecting your food and water from them, especially those products stored in the basement.
Citizens are also advised to consume foods that have undergone heat treatment, for example, through boiling, frying, baking, or steaming.
How to prevent rodents from encroaching on your home? Experts say the easiest way is to deprive them of access to the premises.
In turn, this is achieved by eliminating cracks, crevices, and other defects in the walls, as well as by using a high threshold.
Epidemiologists have indicated symptoms of hemorrhagic fever that require immediate medical attention:
– high temperature (from 39 to 41 degrees);
- headache;
– aches in muscles and joints;
- general weakness, fatigue;
– loss of appetite;
- chills;
– thirst (dry mouth);
- nausea and vomiting.
If you experience the above symptoms of the disease, experts advise seeking medical help from a healthcare organization in your area of residence as soon as possible.
