In Russia, citizens are faced with a new, very clever system of deception.
It is quite possible, experts say, that something similar could take place in Belarus.
As for the neighboring country, there, as reported in the Telegram channel of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Department of Internal Affairs, scammers have begun posing as flower delivery service couriers.
They give bouquets to people who don’t suspect anything, that is, they give them away for free.
After some time, the person who received such a gift receives a call allegedly from the delivery service.
They ask to dictate the numbers received in an SMS, explaining that this is necessary for some kind of “reporting”.
As soon as the citizen provides the code, they stop communicating with him, after which they withdraw money from the bank card or try to get a loan.
There was an incident when fraudsters almost got a large loan in this way, but thanks to the vigilance of the bank’s security service, the transaction was cancelled.
Fraudsters use social engineering methods, playing on people's feelings and forcing them to take rash actions, the report says.
Citizens, including Belarusians, are advised: in order to avoid becoming a victim of fraudsters, you should not accept gifts from strangers, as well as parcels, especially if you did not order the latter.
By the way. It is not at all necessary that they give flowers. Scammers can definitely claim free candies, toys, fruits, etc.
