Border guards may be given the right to fingerprint foreign citizens upon their entry into Belarus.
This was reported on November 19 by the head of the legal department of the State Border Committee, Andrei Kuksov.
What the State Civil Procedure Code said about fingerprinting of foreigners upon entry
As reported by BELTA , today at the Kamenny Log border outpost, a visiting meeting of the House of Representatives' standing committees on national security and international affairs was held, dedicated to the practice of applying legislation in the areas of border security and customs.
The purpose of the event is to study and analyze the practice of applying laws adopted by parliament in recent years in the area of border security and customs regulation, to develop proposals for improving legislation in these areas, and to familiarize ourselves with the activities of bodies and organizations that are part of the border service system.
According to Kuksov, the discussion included changes to legislation in the context of the challenges and threats arising in connection with the military-political situation that has developed near the border of Belarus.
It is proposed, in particular, to grant border guards the right to fingerprint a certain category of foreign citizens upon their entry into the country.
According to the State Prosecutor's Office representative, an experiment is currently being conducted on this issue.
In the future, if the initiative is supported by deputies, it will be written into legislation, Kuksov said.
