The Department of State Labor Inspection of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection has recorded an issue that is important for many Belarusians.
Experts were asked: is it possible to move the working day on January 3, 2025 (Friday) so that we can have a week off?
That is, with such an opportunity there would be a full week of vacation – from January 1 to January 7 inclusive.
Answer from the experts
The question was: does the employer have the right to move the working day from Friday, January 3 to Saturday, January 18 or other days off that fall on Saturday?
The Department's press service gave the following answer on its official Telegram channel: no, the employer does not have such a right in this case.
It is explained: according to Part 6 of Article 136 of the Labor Code of the Republic of Belarus, the government may transfer individual working days to weekends that fall on Saturdays in agreement with the President.
The government also grants the right to some organizations, based on the specifics of their work, to move working days to Saturday weekends.
Postponements in 2025
By the Resolution of the Council of Ministers “On the transfer of working days in 2025”, working days have been transferred:
– from Monday, January 6 to Saturday, January 11;
– from Monday, April 28 to Saturday, April 26;
– from Friday, July 4 to Saturday, July 12;
– from Friday, December 26 to Saturday, December 20.
The above-mentioned organizations are given the right to transfer these working days to other weekends that fall on Saturday.
January 3
The government decree does not provide for the transfer of the working day from January 3 to January 18 or another Saturday.
Accordingly, the employer has no grounds for such a transfer, the department concluded.
