As for long-term forecasts, Tatyana Chetyrko recommends listening to forecasts made for no more than a week.
This is the optimal time period, “which allows for the most accurate forecasts.”
As for the weather on New Year's Eve, even "the current level of forecasting does not allow forecasters to accurately predict the weather for a month at a given point."
