Before leaving for the holidays, schoolchildren may be asked where and with whom they will spend their free time.
It is possible that this approach could upset some parents. However, it remained unclear whether schools could collect this information, and whether students were required to provide it.
Schools cannot collect information about what plans students are making for the upcoming holidays, BELTA reports with reference to the National Center for Personal Data Protection.
The issue of concern to many parents was studied jointly with the Belarusian Ministry of Education.
As experts explained, schools cannot collect the following information:
- information about the students’ whereabouts during the holidays;
- Full name and degree of relationship of the persons with whom the child will be;
- contacts of the persons with whom the child will be on vacation.
Exception
However, in some cases, an educational institution may collect such information.
Exceptions apply to certain categories of families provided for by law.
For example, this could be the status of a socially dangerous situation.
