What Pet Owners Need to Know
The procedure and conditions for keeping pets in residential premises are determined by Government Decree No. 834 of 04.06.2001.
Owners of pets are required to strictly adhere to sanitary and veterinary standards and rules for keeping them, not allow their pets to pollute public places (entrance, adjacent territory) and ensure the safety of people.
Walking dogs in residential areas is strictly prohibited, the Department of Internal Affairs noted.
Walking areas are determined by local executive and administrative bodies.
The dog must be taken out of the apartment on a short leash and with a muzzle (except for puppies under 3 months of age and decorative dogs shorter than 25 cm at the withers, which are allowed to be taken out on a leash without a muzzle).
Only adults may walk dogs of potentially dangerous breeds.
Violation of the rules for keeping and walking pets entails administrative liability in the form of a fine of 1 to 15 BV (40 to 600 rubles).
If the violation resulted in harm to people's health or property, the fine will be from 10 to 30 BV. Community service or administrative arrest may also be imposed.
