Scientists have recorded another powerful solar flare. According to their estimates, it was close to class X.
According to experts, the duration of this phenomenon was 31 minutes.
The Institute of Applied Geophysics (Federal State Budgetary Institution “IPG”) told TASS about this.
Scientists note that the outbreak occurred last Sunday, November 10, at 15:06 Moscow time.
On November 10 at 15:06 Moscow time, an M9.5 flare lasting 31 minutes was recorded in the X-ray range in the sunspot group 3889 (S07E26), they said.
Let us recall that solar flares are divided into 5 classes according to the power of X-ray radiation: A, B, C, M and X.
The smallest (class A0.0) include flares whose power corresponds to the radiation power in the Earth's orbit of 10 nW per 1 sq. m.
Class 2 (B) – flashes with power 10 times greater. Class 3 (C) – 10 times greater than the previous one.
The fourth (M) is 10 times greater than C. The fifth (X) is the maximum power level – 10 times greater than class M.
According to experts, flares often result in the release of plasma, clouds of which, upon reaching the Earth, can cause magnetic storms.
