The Belarusian Ministry of Health has responded to rumours that have emerged in society about the distribution of potentially deadly perfume samples from well-known brands.
The department responded to this information in its official Telegram channel with a post from the Telegram channel “People’s Antifake”.
In the cited publication, information about dangerous spirits is called “a leak from people who like to stir up the population.”
This fake is reportedly being distributed via the Viber messenger.
Mostly, such messages are received by Russian citizens, however, “echoes of this story have already appeared in Belarus.”
Viber users are receiving messages that allegedly small samples of perfumes from famous brands are being dropped into their mailboxes.
Like a New Year's promotion. You can't open them or smell them. A few inhalations can be fatal. Warn your friends and family, - "warns" a certain anonymous "well-wisher".
It is stated that the author of the warning most likely wants particularly impressionable recipients to get scared and start “spreading this nonsense virally.”
Belarusians were reminded that in the 90s of the 20th century, people were frightened using approximately the same scheme with pushpins with “AIDS-infected blood” that were allegedly glued to elevator buttons.
Citizens were urged not to trust such messages and not to distribute them, since this is the effect that the attackers are counting on.
