The 21st day of the second month of autumn has arrived.
Usually by this time a layer of loose snow would appear on the roads.
However, after some time the snow "covering" melted. As a result, it became very dirty.
That is why the following opinion was widespread among our ancestors: October 21 is not the best day to set off on a long journey.
And there are also several interesting signs associated with this important period. So, today it is worth paying attention to the birch tree.
Folk omens for October 21
You need to look at the birch tree to find out if there are any leaves left on it.
If the leaf blades are still present, then according to signs, snow will still fall quite late.
It is also worth looking at the sky on the night of October 19-20: the bright shining of the stars promises improved weather conditions.
But if the stars shine dimly, the weather can get seriously worse.
You should also look at the sky during the daytime. Low clouds promise the imminent onset of a frosty period.
The location of mouse holes on the southern side indicates, according to signs, the severity of the coming winter. A similar consequence should be expected if a woodpecker pecks a tree from the bottom up.
A loud cry of an owl in the forest may indicate a serious drop in air temperature in the near future.
